Completion of ‘micro
SAW’ plant of 6581㎡

Investing 59 billion in

plants in total
Vice-Chairman Kwak Dong-

largest facility of back-
end equipment.”
[Edaily Reporter Kang

Semiconductor (042700)
has established 4 plants
and secured the largest
production facilities
among semiconductor back-
end equipment
manufacturers in the
world.
HANMI Semiconductor
announced on the 7th that
it has completed a new
plant dedicated to micro
SAW at Juan National
Industrial Complex in
Seo-gu, Incheon. Now
HANMI Semiconductor has
completed 4 plant
production system.

HANMI Semiconductor’s
new micro SAW plant is a
three-story building on a
6,581㎡ site and has 40
work bays and high-tech
facilities such as a
large clean room, a
precision measuring room,
and the latest packing
system. Through this
process, semiconductor
equipment can be
assembled, tested, and
delivered in batches.
Along with completing a
new micro SAW plant,
HANMI Semiconductor has
invested about 59 billion
won over the past two
years to complete a
semiconductor equipment
production cluster
consisting of four plants
on a total of 47,73
square meters (122,355
pyeong).
Kwak Dong-shin, the vice
chairman of HANMI
Semiconductor, said, “We
are able to produce about
1,320 semiconductor
equipment per year as we
drastically expanded
semiconductor equipment
test lines, which were
bottlenecks."
“We have capa
(production volume) that
can generate 600 billion
won in annual sales,” he
said. “The production
capacity of HANMI
Semiconductor is the
world’s largest in the
semiconductor back-end
process equipment
industry.”
The semiconductor
equipment industry had
limitations in responding
quickly to surging
demands at home and
abroad due to the
influence of the
semiconductor
“supercycle” (super-
boom) that started in the
second half of last year.
HANMI Semiconductor has
been able to increase its
sales and operating
profit by solving
problems such as delayed
delivery due to the
expansion of its fourth
plant.
Meanwhile, HANMI
Semiconductor,
established in 1980, is
expected to renew its
biggest performance again
this year after achieving
its highest performance
ever last year. It is
receiving attention as it
recently localized
micro SAW equipment for
semiconductor packages,
which had been entirely
dependent on Japan.
